The move from Bracknell schoolboy to inexhaustible working DJ began in '83 with a residency for ‘Studio 54’, in Berkshire, England. Ian played an unyielding mix of Electro Funk, & Boogie heavily dependant on U.S. imports, that soon got him noticed. An eight year residency in Greece followed where Ian ‘’fine tuned his killer dance floor instinct’’.

1987 was an exciting and vibrant time in clubland and Ian enthusiastically jumped at the chance of a U.K residency at ‘Reflexions’ in Hitchin, playing alongside Martin Collins, Louie Martin and Tim Westwood. An eclectic music policy of acid house, hip hop and rare groove soon paid off and the club was voted third in the midlands by Blues & Soul readers. For the next five years Ian spent his winters in the U.K and his summers as a resident DJ in Greece.

In 1993 Ian took up a Friday and Saturday night residency at the esteemed ‘Academy’ in Stevenage. The club featured many regular guests in its five year tenure, amongst them; K-Klass, Allister Whitehead, Graeme Park, Jeremy Healy, Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont, Alex P, Karl Brown, Sarah HB (Radio 1), Jocelyn Brown, Roy Ayers, Gwen McCrae and Alison Limerick. During this period Ian regularly played all over the U.K. supporting the likes of; Brandon Block, Alex P, DJ Disciple, Guy Ornadel, Girls On Top, Paul Gotel, Luvdup, Tedd Patterson, Ricky Morrison, Victor Simonelli, Phil Asher & Noel Watts and held a residency at the infamous ‘Tudor Oaks’, Astwick Nr Hitchin; a venue which saw everyone from Pete Tong and Carl Cox to Judge Jules and Grooverider play there during the birth of clubland’s passion with the DJ. These were the years of Glam / Handbag House and Speed Garage.

In 1998 Ian began a five year residency at ‘The Aquarium’, London; together with a residency at the ‘Lounge’, in Northampton from 1999.
In October 2004 Ian became resident at Hush, Northampton, playing weekly with a plethora of top flight DJ’s including: Danny Rampling, Soul Avengerz, Stanton Warriors, Tall Paul, Seb Fontaine, Plump DJ's, Jose Nunez and many more… while regularly playing guest spots at these events throughout the UK with the crème de la crème of the nu-breed: The Hoxton Whores, Ian Carey, Micky Slim, Luke Dzierzek, Nick Louisias, Streetlife DJ’s, Paul Thomas (God’s Kitchen) and some more familiar names; Tim Deluxe, DJ Hyper, General Midi, Adam Freeland and Steve Angello.

Ian is currently an essential part of the Electric Boogaloo team and an ideal resident DJ. He can also be found at his other residencies at The Glassworks, Islington, London; TimeOut, Bedford and Heavenly @ The Anchor, Hitchin.

Ian has also released productions under the alias 'Five Mile Funk', recently gaining a 5 star ‘In The Box’ review for the single ‘Be Mine Tonight in DJ magazine
